Born and raised in Honduras, Excelina Denlea started working at an early age. She immigrated to New York with the dream of building something she could call her own, something with which she could support her family. Over the years, she tried different business ideas to varying degrees of success, but always with the drive to make money, not enjoying many of her business ventures. Curiosity and the idea of making something from scratch with her hands brought her to soap making. She studied the process of making it and spent many nights ruining batches, while working a full time job, never losing determination for she was finally doing something she enjoyed. The early product was not her best, but it was her own, and that made the difference to keep pushing to create something special; her coveted bar of soap. A bar of soap made with love and the care needed to find a place in people’s homes.
